Contact Lenses for the Hard-to-Fit Patient

Traditional contact lenses may not work for everyone. Rainbow Optometry offers hard to fit contact lens.

Some eye conditions can make traditional contact lenses very difficult to wear. These conditions include:

  • Keratoconus
  • Pellucid Marginal Degeneration
  • Post-CXL
  • Post-Intacs
  • Post-Corneal Transplant
  • Post-Lasik
  • Post-PRK
  • Post-RK
  • Severe Dry Eye
  • GVHD
  • Sjogren’s Syndrome
  • EBMD
  • Neurotrophic Keratitis
  • Corneal Scars and Opacities
  • High Myopia
  • High Astigmatism
  • Presbyopia
  • Anisometropia
  • High Ametropia
  • Aphakia
  • Aniridia

Wearing scleral lenses can significantly improve your vision if you have any of the above conditions. Scleral lenses also eliminate the discomfort felt by other traditional lenses.

Scleral lenses are custom-made large diameter gas permeable lens that completely vaults over the cornea and rests on the sclera (the “white” of your eyes). This provides better initial comfort and adaptation to the lens. Because the size of the scleral lenses are large, they are easier to handle and are more durable.

Schedule an appointment with Rainbow Optometry and our eye doctor will determine if you are a good candidate for scleral lenses.
